Who Are We?

Established in 2010 in Toronto, Canada, the Southern Africa Embrace Foundation (SAEF) is a Canadian-registered international charitable organization with United Nations ECOSOC Special Consultative Status.

Rooted in a mission of equity and dignity, SAEF advances the wellbeing and rights of marginalized children, youth, and women across Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. In 2021, the Foundation expanded its vision to include West Africa, with programming in Ghana and Nigeria, strengthening regional solidarity and impact.

We implement our work through multi-sectoral partnerships—collaborating with health centers, schools, grassroots and rural communities, orphanages, international CSOs, NGOs, and private entities. These partnerships ensure that interventions are community-driven, inclusive, and sustainable.

At the heart of SAEF is a commitment to human rights and social justice. We uphold the principles of equality, compassion, dignity, care, and respect for every person, regardless of sex, religion, ethnicity, status, age, or educational background.

We envision a strong alliance of African women, children and youth who live in sustainable communities, are self-reliant, empowered, prosperous and confident individuals with open access to life potential opportunities

The organization is committed to advocating, supporting, and promoting education, socio-economic empowerment of women and ending gender-based violence
